The Zombie movie... If you would have told a horror fan from the 80s that, in 20-30 years, the most popular show on TV would be a zombie epic, or that kids would be running around with zombie toys while drinking from zombie cups, they probably would have thought you were insane. Yet, here we are. Zombies have, quite literally, taken over the world (though not quite the way one might have expected). But, how did we get to this point? Although it's a complex question, much of the answer can be found in this wonderful, magical decade of the 1980s. It was an intense year for zombies, which will be evident by simply glancing over the below list! Enjoy and let me know in the comment section if you feel that I've left something out. (I should preface this list by firstly saying that not all of these films revolve around zombies, but may merely include one or two. Further, I recognize the ambiguity of the term "zombie." If you want to argue about semantics regarding what is and is not a zombie, feel free to do so.)
